Read further"..Creating leverage is a much less structured process that is very difficult to describe or quantify. Leverage relates very closely to lateral thinking, as it often arises as a consequence of thinking outside the box and thereby doing things in unconventional ways or accessing unexpected resources. It has certainly been the case in our experience that the decisions which created the most leveraged results resulted directly from ignoring or breaking certain conventional wisdoms, universal truths or widely accepted principles.
Independent thought is often the key to leveraged results.
